Miniature Video Games Need Tiny People to Play Them
Posted: 23 Mar 2012 06:30 AM PDT
Sebastian Vargas has a got a knack for miniatures, but not the usual kind of dolls or ponies. Sebastian makes playful tiny replicas of technology, like the PSP, Nintento DS, Sony Playstation, old cell phones, and DSLR cameras.
Unfortunately, these miniatures are non-functioning. So while you may have wanted your pet ant or beetle to have some good old fashioned fun playing some PaRappa the Rapper, that won't be happening anytime soon.
However, it's still cool how detailed these miniatures are. The Japanese are probably going nutty for these right about now.
For more pics, check out Sebastian's full Flickr set that he calls Mini World or his Tumblr.

Sent from my iMickey! 8(; - )Why burn a quarter-tank of gas running out to the drugstore for Pepto when you can pluck some relief from your windowsill herb garden?
Besides adding another dimension to your cooking, freshly harvested herbs can soothe dozens of common health problems, and it's possible to grow a selection of home remedies in a couple of pots placed in a sunny spot.
Look for seedlings of these plants and herbs at any garden store, or if you're really ambitious, buy a packet of seeds and try sprouting your own.

Grow it: Plant in pots placed in full sunshine. Water well.
Use it: Break open the thick leaves and apply the gel that seeps out to your skin to soothe sunburn. "It's 96 percent water and 4 percent active ingredients, including amino acids and enzymes that nourish damaged skin," says pharmacist Margo Marrone, founder of The Organic Pharmacy in the United Kingdom.

Grow it:This sweet, fragrant annual is ideal forgrowing in pots. Pull off the white flowers as soon as they appear to keep it from going to seed and your herbs from tasting bitter.
Use it: Rub crushed leaves on your temples to relieve headaches. Pour boiling water over basil leaves for a pain-relieving footbath.

Grow it: This sun-loving plant needs good drainage. Use a small pot filled with gravel and a light soil.
Use it: It has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Crush a handful of the heads and add to a bowl of boiling water to use as a steam bath for your face. You can also dab the oil from the flowers on blemishes, says Marrone.

Grow it: Pot it, or it will colonize your garden.
Use it: Use for healing and preventing cold sores. Also, rub leaves directly onto skin as a natural insect repellent or to soothe bites.

Grow it: Use a sunken pot, because it grows vigorously.
Use it: Ideal for treating the collywobbles, which you might know as butterflies in the stomach. Sip tea made with fresh peppermint leaves to soothe stomach cramps, nausea, and flatulence. For a natural decongestant, place a fistful of mint leaves in a shallow bowl and cover with boiling water. Lean over it, drape a towel over your head, and breathe the steam.

Grow it: Thrives in a pot in the sun as long as the soil is kept moist. Feed with organic fertilizer.

Grow it:This hardy perennial loves basking in sunshine.

T-H-I-N-K! And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. - (Philippians 4:8) A recent survey revealed that America's teenagers are now spending an average of seven-and-a-half hours per day involved in multiple forms of electronic media, including, TV, video games, listening to music, surfing the Web, texting, and e-mailing. Those things are not bad. But we can be so current on culture yet so out of touch with Scripture. So let's make sure that our minds and hearts are filled with the truths of God. Romans 12:1 tells us to "give [our] bodies to God because of all he has done for [us]. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable." Giving our bodies to God also includes our tongues—our words and what we say to others. As James 3:5 points out, "The tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire." I would suggest that you T-H-I-N-K before you speak. The next time you have one of those things you are about to say and are not sure if you really ought to say it, run through the T-H-I-N-K acronym: T—is it true? H—is it helpful? I—is it inspiring? N—is it necessary? K—is it kind? Maybe you're thinking, If I lived by that principle, I wouldn't say anything. Ever. So be it. Present your tongue to God. Not only that, we need to present our hands and feet to Him as well. Proverbs 6:17–19 says there are seven things that God detests: "haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family." So present your hands and your feet and your tongue to God |

A few weeks back I gave you a sneak peek at theDisney Princess Dooney & Bourke collectionthat released at Disney's Fit for a Princess Expo during the Princess Half Marathon at Walt Disney World Resort. Super Mario 3 Frog Suit Quilt Hops Out of Crafter's Hands

Nothing keeps Mario as warm as a Frog suit (except maybe a Tanooki suit.) And now the frog suit he wore inSuper Mario 3 can keep you warm at night while you are sleeping. Not an actual frog suit, but a quilt with the frog suit on it. Why didn't our grandmothers make stuff like this?
Etsy artist bsayasane is responsible for thisMario masterpiece and she did an amazing job of capturing his costume from the game.
This cozy quilt was just $85(USD), but it looks like it has sold already. She also made a Tanooki quilt that is also already gone, but I'm sure you can convince her to make you another. If you need immediate gratification, though, there's still a Winged Goomba for sale. These quilts are 100% cotton print fabric and 100% awesome. You'll be dreaming in 8-bits when you sleep with any of them
They are so adorable. They make me smile. My babies gave them to me.

Bad Laundry Day: Crazy, Mixed-up Superheroes
Posted: 19 Feb 2012 07:00 AM PST
Check out this series of amusing images that depict what happens when super heroes try and do their own laundry, instead of having their trusty assistants perform the task.
The Batman/Superman print is definitely my favorite. It wouldn't make much sense for either of them to go to work like this. The Hulk and Captain America mix-up might actually be an improvement over their normal costumes.
However, Catwoman wearing Wonder Woman's costume is just plain strange.
These images are by Czech artist Goran Patlejch, who's also known as his handle Goenetix. There's a fun, minimal style to these prints, and I like how the image looks like it was quickly printed on a stray piece of folded-up paper. All of these images are available through Goenetix's Etsy store as 12″ x 17″ prints for $22(USD) each.

These perfect-for-hot-chocolate 'mallows are slightly crunchy, like the ones you find in cereal and cocoa packets. Posted: 19 Feb 2012 01:18 PM PST Here is an interesting fact. This coming March 6th (2012) the iconic cookie, Oreos, will celebrate it's 100th birthday. WOW! Who knew it's been around that long? I would never have guessed it. Oreos certainly don't look their age. Ha Ha. In honor of this momentous occasion Oreo is releasing a limit edition Oreo cookie called Birthday Cake Oreo. I love Oreos. Sadly they don't always agree with my tummy so I can only eat 2-3 at a time. That is not really such a bad thing because it prevents me from each a half a dozen or more in one shot. I LOVE Oreos! With our without milk. I'm one of those people who take apart the cookies, eat the cream and then enjoy the cookies. Do YOU eat your Oreos that way too? I was excited when I heard about the Birthday Cake Oreos and I couldn't wait to try one. Birthday Cake Oreos look like regular Oreos except there are colorful confetti colors mixed in with the white cream. I really like the colorful new look. Oreos are already a fun cookie to eat. I think the colorful confetti cream makes them even MORE fun to eat and enjoy. Another thing I noticed about the Birthday Cake Oreo was that print on the cookie it's self. The cookie reads "Oreo 100″ and features a birthday candle on top. They really thought of everything when designing these cookies. The #1 thing I noticed about these delicious limited edition cookies is how they smell and taste. They smell EXACTLY like a slice of birthday cake and they taste like one too! I'm not exaggerating either. When you eat one of the Birthday Cake Oreos you would swear you just had a slice of birthday cake. It's amazing how much the cookie tastes like a birthday cake. They remind me of a vanilla birthday cake, even though the cookie is chocolate. I'm guessing they added more vanilla than they normally do in the cookie. I'm sure there is something else added to them to make them taste so out of this world wonderful! These are going to be a limited edition. I truly hope that Oreo will reconsider that and make these available all the time. These are too good not to have around all the time. The cookies shouldn't be available on store shelves yet (not until the beginning of March) but my local grocery store already has them available for purchase. I have a feeling they might have "jumped the gun" a bit and put them out for customers a wee bit early. If you love Oreos and you love birthday cake then you must check out these new cookies. Keep an eye out for them because they should be appearing on a store shelf near you any day now. Two thumbs up, 5 stars and a 10+++ for the new Birthday Cake Oreo cookies. They are SO GOOD! Kimberly |
