Zombies and Assassins Creed

From the Technobob blog:

Z World Zombie Theme Park Could Make Abandoned Detroit a Cool Place to Visit

Posted: 05 Jul 2012 12:00 PM PDT

I'm sure most of us have watched zombie shows such as The Walking Dead and wondered if we would be able to survive a zombie apocalypse. An entrepreneur named Mark Siwak has a seriously awesome idea for a theme park that would let you find out how you would fare if zombies were to attack. The man has a plan to make a theme park using abandoned and derelict areas of Detroit called Z World.

zombie hoard

The idea is that people would come to the theme park in pay to enter a 200-acre apocalyptic style abandoned urban setting where you can run and hide from zombies to your heart's content. The idea would be to see if you can take refuge in the abandoned buildings and survive the zombie horde. Sadly, you won't be able to try out your Crovel at Z World.

Siwak believes that this theme park could employ hundreds or even thousands of people in the Detroit area to shuffle around in zombie makeup and work other areas of the park. However, some think the plan is nothing more than an attempt to capitalize on Detroit's woes. Apparently, Detroit has lost approximately area 1.1 million citizens since 1950 leaving massive areas uninhabited and crumbling. That sounds like the perfect place for a zombie theme park to me. For now, we'll have to settle for this.

Assassin's Creed III "Rise" Trailer Tells Its Tale Using Real Actors

Posted: 05 Jul 2012 11:15 AM PDT

We've seen our share of trailers for the coming video game Assassin's Creed III, expected to launch in October. So far the trailers we've seen have used actual gameplay footage to show what the video game will be like. A new trailer for the video game went live yesterday that uses live actors to promote the rebellion theme of the video game.

The "rise" message of the video since makes sense considering the game is set during the American Revolution. The trailer shows a number of different actors in situations looking stoic as bad things happen – typically perpetrated by enemy soldiers or plain mean people.

We've seen previous trailers that show naval warfare allowing the player to control or ownership and board enemy ships for hand-to-hand combat. There have also been rumors that players will be able to domesticate animals and play some sort of mysterious third character. From the looks of things, this may be one of the game to come in the Assassin's Creed franchise yet.

Monster University

From shescribes blog:

Disney * Pixar's Monsters University – Check it out!

Posted: 23 Jun 2012 07:56 AM PDT

Did you know that Disney * Pixar created a prequeal to the smash hitMonsters, Inc.? All of your favorites are back!

The new film, Monsters University, explores what life was like for the characters while they were in college.

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn't always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn't stand each other. "Monsters University" unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.

Screaming with laughter and fun, "Monsters University" is directed by Dan Scanlon ("Cars," "Mater and the Ghostlight," "Tracy") and produced by Kori Rae ("Up," "The Incredibles," "Monsters, Inc."). The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

The movie stars the voice talents of Billy Crystal (Mike Wazowski), John Goodman (James P. Sullivan), Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney and Steve Buscemi. It's set to be released on June 21, 2013.

Here are some interesting little tid bits about the film.

Monsters, Inc., originally released on November 2, 2001, was nominated for four Oscars: Best Animated Feature Film, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing and Best Original Song—"If I Didn't Have You," for which it won.

Monsters University will hit U.S. theaters nearly 12 years after theMonsters, Inc. theatrical debut.

Monsters University features a host of new faces and a few returning favorites fromMonsters, Inc.

Check out this fun clip from the film. I have to say that it looks really good. Sometimes sequeal/prequels are not as good as the original. I think one looks like it could be close. Of course there are some sequeals/prequels that are actuallybetter than the originals too.

You can follow this movie and others by checking out the Disney * Pixar Facebook and Twitter pages,www.Facebook.com/DisneyPixarand @DisneyPixar.

Disney Announces Start of Production on "Maleficent"

Posted: 19 Jun 2012 12:57 PM PDT

I still remember the first time I saw Sleeping Beauty in the movie theater. The movie premiered before I was even born (1959). When I was younger the local movie theater used to re-release Disney films during the summer. I was lucky enough to see all the classics in the theater.

I found Sleeping Beauty to be scary when I was little. The story it's self is nice but the evil character of Maleficent was scary. Especially when she turned into a dragon. The "horns" on top of her head made her especially scary looking.

If you are unfamiliar with the story, or have never seen Disney's Sleeping Beauty, I would highly recommend it. It's a great film.

Disney just announced the start of production on the movie Maleficent, which will be in theaters March 14, 2013. The movie is about Maleficent, not Aurora/Briar Rose ("Sleeping Beauty"). This film focuses on Maleficent and how she became disenchanted with the kingdom and what caused her to become evil.

Here is an official release for the film;

The Walt Disney Studios announced today that production began Wednesday, June 13th, on "Maleficent," starring Academy Award®–winning actress Angelina Jolie.

Directed by two-time Oscar®-winning production designer Robert Stromberg ("Avatar," "Alice in Wonderland"), in his directorial debut, and produced by Joe Roth, "Maleficent" is written by Linda Woolverton ("The Lion King," "Beauty and the Beast") and executive produced by Angelina Jolie, Don Hahn, Matt Smith and Palak Patel.

Co-starring in the film are Sharlto Copley ("District 9"), Elle Fanning ("Super 8"), Sam Riley ("On the Road"), Imelda Staunton ("Vera Drake"), Miranda Richardson ("The Hours"), Juno Temple ("Atonement") and Lesley Manville ("Secrets & Lies").

This is the untold story of Disney's most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic "Sleeping Beauty." The film reveals the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora.

Behind-the-scenes talent includes Academy Award®–winning cinematographer Dean Semler ("Dances with Wolves," "In the Land of Blood and Honey"), production designer Gary Freeman ("Saving Private Ryan," "The Bourne Supremacy"), two-time Oscar® nominated costume designer Anna B. Sheppard ("Schindler's List," "The Pianist") and seven-time Academy Award–winning makeup artist Rick Baker ("Planet of the Apes," "Men in Black").

"Maleficent" is scheduled for a March 14, 2014 release in 3D.

Entertainment Weekly has a brief interview with Angelina Jolie about the movie Maleficent and her part in the film. If you are interested in reading it you can find the review here, http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/06/19/first-look-maleficent.

Here is the first photo of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. She truly does look like a live version of Maleficent. The studios did a great job casting her for this role.

What do you think about this film? Does it sound like something you would want to see in the theater? What do you think about the studio's choice to case Angelina Jolie in the staring role?

Zombie Car

My son would be so excited about this car. Me too!
From Technabob blog:

The Walking Dead Creator Designs Zombie Survival Hyundai

Posted: 18 Jun 2012 07:05 AM PDT

If you woke up one morning and realized the zombie apocalypse was here, what vehicle would you want to fight off the hordes? I think I want something with a lot of payload capacity for all the weapons, Doritos, and Dr. Pepper I'd need to survive. I would at least want something big and rugged that could survive being set upon by the horde. One vehicle that would never come to my mind to fight the zombie apocalypse would be a Hyundai.

zombie elantra

However, The Walking Dead Creator Robert Kirkman has created a cool Hyundai Elantra Coupe that I could certainly see being used to kill zombies. Apparently, the actual vehicle will be shown off on the Comic-Con show floor at the Future US booth in July, and I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like.

The car appears to have riveted-on metal plates to protect it from zombies along with spinning wheel spikes to sever legs and a zombie plow with spikes in front. It's also got plenty of light for those nighttime zombie killing sprees and roof mounted escape panels. I still think you'd be better off with something that can could on or off-road. I vote for a zombie fighting Hummer. Or maybe one ofthese
