Charles Swindoll

 Only for the Lonely
 by Charles R. Swindoll
Make every effort to come to me soon. . . . Only Luke is with me. Pick up Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service. . . . At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them. But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me.   2 Timothy 4:91116–17
Our Father, we acknowledge that we need You, and our need is not partial; it's total. It's not occasional; it's always—today especially. We pray for those who wrestle with the very real problem of loneliness. It's not dated; it surfaces regularly in every generation. We pray especially for those who are lonely because they are distant from You. We ask You to bring them to a knowledge of Your Son and keep them restless and sleepless and struggling until they have come to that place of faith in Your Son.
Thank You for meeting our every need. We pray that You will meet this one today wherever we find ourselves. And that You will show Yourself strong where we are weak, mighty where we are lacking. Meet the deep needs of our hearts, our Father, and enable us to get through the difficulty of loneliness by Your grace. In the name of Christ, our Lord, our Savior, our Master, and our God, we pray. Amen.

This week, Walt Disney's daughter, Diane Disney Miller passed away at the age of 79.

Upon learning the sad news, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger said, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Diane Disney Miller. She is remembered by Disney fans around the world as the beloved daughter of Walt Disney, and one who graciously shared her family history and personal memories of her father."
"Diane was a fierce guardian of her father's legacy who never hesitated to set the record straight, opening The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco to bring her father's fascinating story to life. In our many conversations over the years, Diane's unique and special perspective about her father only deepened my considerable appreciation for him. Diane was incredibly generous in that regard, freely sharing her personal insights and providing details that deepened our knowledge, and we remain grateful for her many valuable contributions to our efforts to preserve Disney history. She and her sister, Sharon, have long been recognized as Walt's inspiration forDisneyland, a place he created for families to have fun together. For that reason and many others, Diane will always have a special place in our company's legacy and in the hearts of fans."
"She was also known for her philanthropic efforts, including playing an integral role in the development of the renowned Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles to ensure the creation of a unique venue bearing her father's name that she believed would be "a wonderful thing for the city, for the spirit, for the soul."
"Diane was the wife of former Disney CEO Ron Miller, as well as mother to their seven children, Christopher, Joanna, Tamara, Jennifer, Walter, Ronald and Patrick. She also had 13 grandchildren and had the great joy of recently welcoming her first great-grandchild into the world. We send our sincere condolences to the entire family and our thoughts remain with them during this difficult time."

Thanksgiving

On days of special blessing, we are especially commanded: "When you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them . . . you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."[Deuteronomy 8:12, 18]
The crown of the home is godliness
The beauty of the home is order
The glory of the home is hospitality
The blessing of the home is contentment
